Care expectations

What can I expect booking with Happy Huskies?

Given the multitude of sitters with varying levels of commitment and skill in their work, it can often be challenging to establish a clear expectation as a starting point. In the following, I will delineate the diverse care services we offer and provide a comprehensive explanation of our operational procedures at Happy Huskies. This is aimed at ensuring absolute transparency and offering you peace of mind when the booking process is completed.

Meet and greets inside the sitters home

While meet and greets may appear to be a straightforward process, there can still be several nuances that might leave a pet owner uncertain. At Happy Huskies, our approach to meet and greets begins with a thorough review of your dog's Rover profile or intake form. This initial step ensures that there is compatibility between your dog's breed and temperament and those of our resident dogs. You can find further details about breed restrictions in our FAQ section. Once this initial review is complete, we may follow up with any basic questions that may have been unclear or unanswered in the initial form.

Upon approval of both the dog and requested dates, we will proceed to schedule a meet and greet either at your home or mine, depending on the specific service you've chosen. For services like boarding and daycare, the meet and greet must take place at my home, starting in my backyard to ensure that all participating dogs have ample space to explore, play, and investigate independently without feeling confined. During this time, my dog Dolly will be outside, while all other dogs, including my other dog, Jaxx, will be inside, ready for introductions at a later stage to prevent overwhelming the visiting dog.

We allow visiting dogs as much time as they need to display comfort, playfulness, and curiosity.

Meet and greet sessions do not have a specified end time, but it's typical to allow visiting dogs to socialize for at least 15 minutes. Once all dogs are calm, visiting dogs and their owners are granted access to the interior of the house. This includes the main floor, which encompasses the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, office, and living room. I will also take note of the locations of toys, the communal water bowl, security cameras, the sleeping area, and the doggy door.

After ensuring that the dogs are compatible, all care instructions have been addressed, and I am confident in my ability to care for them during the specified dates, I will bring my personal dogs and any dogs in boarding or daycare inside the house. Then, I'll escort the visiting dog and owner outside the house so they can confirm the booking via the Rover app or through direct confirmation.

If a second meet and greet is necessary, whether due to new behaviors, the addition of another dog to the family, or an extended period between visits, the process will remain the same.

Meet and greets inside the sitters home

At Happy Huskies, our initial step involves reviewing your dog's Rover profile or intake form to ensure that there is compatibility in terms of breed and temperament .Please refer to our FAQ section for breed restrictions. Once this evaluation is complete, we will contact you to address any basic questions that may have been unclear or left unanswered in the initial form.

For housesitting and drop-in visits, all we need from the owner is a specified time, date, and address. This allows us to arrange a meeting with your pet inside your home and conduct a comprehensive tour of the areas relevant to your pet's care schedule. This includes the bedroom, bathroom, restricted areas, food storage, cleaning supply closet, backyard, walking path, litterboxes and the location of any kennels if needed.

Upon establishing that the dogs are compatible with myself, all care instructions have been thoroughly considered, and we are confident in our ability to care for them during the specified dates, we will confirm the arrangement either through the app or by direct communication with the client. In the event that a second meet and greet is required, whether due to new behaviors, the introduction of another dog into the family, or an extended period between visits, the process will remain unchanged..

Scheduled walks

Walks are another very easy service but can still have differences in expectations depending on the sitter, at Happy Huskies our approach to walks begins with a thorough review of your dog's Rover profile or intake form. This initial step ensures that there is compatibility between your dog's breed and temperament. You can find further details about breed restrictions in our FAQ section. Once this initial review is complete, we may follow up with any basic questions that may have been unclear or unanswered in the initial form.

Once your dog and requested dates are approved, I will include your dog's profile in my Trello and website calendar. Additionally, I will provide you with a link to my Trello so you can view my schedule and book services as needed. On the scheduled day and time of the walk, I will come to your home, leash your dog, and take them for a walk lasting 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the service you've chosen. Please consult the FAQ section for information regarding the use of leashes and collars.

The time block specified encompasses the period spent outside your home, walking along the designated path, and does not include any travel or preparation time before or after the walk. During the walk, my complete attention will be focused on your dog and their immediate surroundings. I will ensure to pick up any waste and adhere to any walk guidelines provided for the duration of the service.

You can expect to receive multiple photos of your pet during their walk, as well as a courtesy text message upon my arrival and departure from your home. In the event that a dog is unwilling or unable to complete a walk, I will make an effort to address the issue. However, the well-being of the pet takes precedence, and in some cases, the service may need to end prematurely. In such instances, I may spend the remaining time in the time block with the pet or, in the case of an emergency, seek vet services promptly. Please refer to the Terms of Service (TOS) for more comprehensive information on emergency care procedures.
